Alex Job Racing Finishes Ninth at Lime Rock Park

Lime Rock, Connecticut - Alex Job Racing finished ninth today in round four of the American Le Mans Series run at Lime Rock Park this afternoon.

As a result of changing tires following qualifying, Klaus Graf had to start the number 23/Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/Porsche from the last row of the grid. The German was making steady progress through the GT2 field making his way up to third position in class by lap 48.

On lap 50 going into turn one, Graf was hit by the number 51 Panoz and sustained heavy right rear damage. The Alex Job Racing crew set about changing the entire right rear suspension assembly and was able to return the car to the battle in time to make 70% distance to score points.

Klaus Graf was having a good run until the one hour mark. "I had a good car. I was able to move-up through the field and make may way all the up to third from starting last. I had a run on the BMW into turn one and went a little wide. I was not way off of the line and then I was hit by the Panoz. I thought it was way too early in the race for him to be making that optimistic of a move. It is disappointing we were really coming on at that point."

Mike Rockenfeller is disappointed with the finish. "Klaus was doing a good job and we were looking promising for at least a podium finish. The incident was unfortunate, whenever you get hit in the rear corner it is usually a poor move by the car overtaking. This is a serious hit to us in the points battle, especially after our horrible Mid-Ohio race."

"We looked really good for the first hour of the race," said Alex Job. "Lime Rock is a short track and it takes a little bit of give and take by the competitors to run a clean race. We were hit from behind and sustained all of the damage. The number 51 was able to continue and we had a repair that cost us 18 laps. We have two races now that have really impacted our season. The GT2 class is competitive and no one seems to be putting together a perfect season. GT2 has had four different winners in as many races. We still will need to come to the remaining races looking to win, with a goal of being the first GT2 repeat winner."

Round four of the American Le Mans Series from Lime Rock Park be televised on CBS, tape delayed, on Sunday, July 2nd at 4:00 p.m. ET. Round five will be run at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 15th.
