Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports Back On Top After 18 Hours

Daytona Beach , Florida -- Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports has retaken the lead after 18 hours of running at the Grand American Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Reserve Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona.

After being as many as eight laps down at the six hour mark, drivers Patrick Long, Lucas Luhr and Mike Rockenfeller have raged back to the front by running fast lap times. The number 23/Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports/Porsche/Crawford has not missed a beat since the early troubles.

On lap 444 at 2:45 a.m. Luhr passed the number two Ganassi car to take second place. At 4:15 a.m. and lap 486 Rockenfeller took the lead by passing the number one Ganassi car.

Patrick Long set fastest lap of the race at approximately 10:30 p.m. with a time of 1:44.299. "We are running a stiff pace and the car is responding well. We are being careful to stay on line and with the handling of the car so good, traffic is very manageable. The car has been really consistent considering we are 18 hours into the race."

Mike Rockenfeller was behind the wheel when he drove into the lead. "The track is dirty and slippery in a few spots, typical of a 24 hour race at this time of the morning. You have to be careful on new tires and wait two or three laps to get them up to temperature. The car is really good, just normal 18 hour wear and tear. We are taking care of everything, I hope we can keep up the pace."

Speed TV is broadcasting more than 14 hours of the 24 Hours at Daytona. The first segment will air with the start of the race on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. EST and run air until 6:00 p.m., they will return at 8:00 p.m. and run until 11:00 p.m. On Sunday the show will resume at 8:00 a.m. and run the finish at 12:30 p.m.
