Ruby
Tuesday Championship Racing Team Ready For Mid-Ohio
TAVARES,
Fla. (June 19, 2006) -- The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team
is on its way to Round 9 of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car
Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve, the EMCO Gears
Classic presented by KeyBank, to be run at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
on Saturday. Ruby Tuesday drivers Patrick Long and Mike Rockenfeller
are ready to take on Mid-Ohio and get back in the championship fight.
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
is a natural layout that covers 2.238 miles and encompasses 13 turns.
The Alex Job Racing prepared Porsche Powered Crawford will be making
its first visit to Mid-Ohio, however the crew and drivers have a
lot of experience at the track located just north of Columbus.
Patrick Long likes the
prospects for the Ruby Tuesday team at Mid-Ohio. "Mid-Ohio
demands that a car is good under braking and then transitions well
into the corner. The direction changes through Mid-Ohio's long radius
corners like the Carousal and Key Hole are the types of turns in
which our car has proven to be very strong. We will also be focusing
the set-up of the car on the trail-braking sections and maximizing
traction out of the corners. I like Mid-Ohio. It is a real drivers
track and one event that everyone wants to win."
Mike Rockenfeller is
looking forward to running the Ruby Tuesday No. 23 Daytona Prototype
at Mid-Ohio. "I have only been to Mid-Ohio in a GT car. We
will need to have good exit speed to get down the long straight,
where the aero of the Crawford and power of the Porsche engine should
be an advantage. We will also have to have good mechanical grip
as there are a lot of mid-speed and slow corners - overall a well
balanced car. We need to get back the performance that we showed
in our first four races and try to make up as many points as we
can this week."
"We are embarking
on an important week for our Ruby Tuesday team," said Alex
Job, team owner. "We have fallen back in the points, but two
good races at Mid-Ohio and Daytona will put us back into the hunt
for the championship. These next two races will dictate how we finish
the season. Mid-Ohio is a track we are very familiar with, we need
to get back to our early season form. There are only five races
left and we cannot afford to have any more set backs."
The Ruby Tuesday Championship
Racing Team is currently sixth in the battle for the team championship.
Long and Rockenfeller are eighth in the drivers point standings,
46 out of the lead in the Daytona Prototype category.
Round 9 of the Grand
American series from Mid-Ohio will be televised, tape delayed, on
SPEED at 3:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, June 25th.
The team will be appearing
at the Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Ontario, Ohio on Friday, June
23rd at 7:00 p.m. to sign autographs and greet fans.
