Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Adds Borcheller for Miller

Tavares, Florida  --  The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team has added road racing stalwart Terry Borcheller to the driving lineup which includes regular Mike Rockenfeller and another newcomer Ralf Kelleners for the final round of the Grand American Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Reserve to be run this Saturday, September 2nd at Utah’s Miller Motorsport Park.

Borcheller brings a strong endurance racing resume to the Ruby Tuesday team.  The Vero Beach, Florida resident has recently driven for the Kodak Doran team in Grand Am as well as competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of a Saleen S7-R.  Terry has accumulated seven DP wins, including the 2004 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, as well four Rolex Sports Car Series championships in various classes.

Borcheller is appreciative of the opportunity to drive the number 23 Ruby Tuesday entry.  “I have a huge amount of respect for the Ruby Tuesday team.  This is one of the best sporstscar teams out there, in any series.  They are always fast; this is a huge opportunity for me.  The first and only time I ever drove for Alex was in Watkins Glen in 1998.  I was supposed to drive for another team and they had electrical problems and couldn’t make the race.  I was at a phone booth to change my flight home; Alex came up to me and said do you want to drive my car it’s in the lead.  I drove the last three hours and we ended up winning.  Although I have never driven a Crawford, I took right to it in the couple of laps that I turned today.  The car feels very different than the last DP car I drove.”

“We felt that we needed to do the Miller nine-hour with three drivers,” said Alex Job, team owner.  “Terry is very solid behind the wheel and has a great deal of Daytona Prototype seat time.  Good drivers that have experience in these DP cars are definitely at a premium this weekend and we were lucky that Terry became available to us.  He has driven for me once before and we won, we hope to keep that streak going.”

The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team is currently fifth in the battle for the team championship.  Long and Rockenfeller are fourth in the drivers point standings in the Daytona Prototype category.

The final round of the Grand American Rolex series from Miller Motorsport Park will be televised on Speed Channel live starting at 2:00 p.m. ET, Saturday, September 2, the second segment of the telecast will begin at 8:30 p.m. ET.
