Alex Job Racing Heads to Houston

Tavares , Florida – Alex Job Racing is ready to get back to the American Le Mans Series schedule as the team heads to the Grand Prix of Houston for round two of the American Le Mans Series GT2 calendar. The team will field their number 23/Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/hirewise/Porsche 911 RSR for Klaus Graf and Mike Rockenfeller at the new track that surrounds Reliant Park for a night race to take the green flag at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12th.

After finishing a disappointing sixth at Sebring in March the team has had nearly two months to ponder their 12-hours as well as prepare for round two of the GT2 season. The Houston Grand Prix will be a challenge as the 1.7-mile, nine-turn track consists of six 90-degree left hand turns which will bunch the field and create opportunities for passing and incidents.

Klaus Graf likes the challenge of street racing. “I actually do like street races a lot. First because I have done them a lot in the past, especially last year when I won the Trans-Am Championship. Secondly because of the atmosphere in the city circuits is a little more upbeat than our regular stops. The fans are close to the action and most of the street races draw a great crowd. This will be a new track so will I try to get as much information about the new layout before I come to track. I will also arrive a day early, so there is enough time to walk the track and have a close look at everything. We need to get a good result. I would say a podium finish is our minimum goal. It's important to score points in every race to be able to fight for the championship at the end of the season and that's definitely our goal.”

Mike Rockenfeller is anxious to get back to top form. “I have looked at the track map and it is a typical street course with straights leading to 90-degree turns. I am told the track is fairly smooth and wide. We had a difficult first race at Sebring and we are a little behind in the points. We need to get back on track for the championship and have a strong finish at Houston to give us some momentum to take on the rest of the schedule. The track in Texas will be new to everyone so we will get up to speed quickly and be ready for a fight Friday night.”

“It will be nice to get back to action in the ALMS,” said Alex Job. “After our finish at Sebring we are anxious to restart our season at the front. Klaus and Mike will be ready to take on the new circuit. It will be an abbreviated weekend and late start at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The track is a new element for everyone and with the varied speed of the cars in the series I hope everyone can be patient and keep their cool.”

Round two of the American Le Mans Series will be run at the Grand Prix of Houston at 8:00 p.m. EST on May 12 th and will be televised on CBS Saturday, May 13 th at 1:00 p.m. EST.
