Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports Look for Second at Long Beach

Tavares , Florida -- Alex Job Racing/Emory Motorsports are coming off of their first win in the Grand American Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Reserve. The team has two poles and one win in two races with their Porsche powered Daytona Prototype.

Long Beach holds the distinction of being the longest running street race in the United States . The 1.97-mile closed street course with its 11-turns will see action from the Daytona Prototypes for the first time in its 29 year history. The Alex Job Racing drivers will have to get down to business before the track even opens as practice time is limited. The team will have to sort the setup of the car and get ready for qualifying in 45-minutes, followed by a one-hour qualifying session on Friday. The race will be a 90-minute sprint format run on Saturday, April 8 th .

Mike Rockenfeller has had good luck with new street circuits. "I've had to learn new street circuits with limited track time before in the Porsche Super Cup series, when we raced together with F1. So what I try to do is to be as sharp and focused as I can from the very first lap of practice. I also study the layout and walk the track to look at the tricky parts before I go out the first time. I have a good track record at new street circuits, in 2004 I won in Super Cup at the Norisring and Monaco . Patrick and I will have to work closely and quickly with the team to get the setup right. I hope that the eight-cylinder cars will not have a big advantage coming off of the corners, especially the last one."

Growing up in nearby Agoura Hills , California , Patrick Long will race at the Long Beach circuit for the first time. "I grew up watching races there, but I've yet to compete at this great event. Limited practice time will favor the guys who have driven Long Beach in Trans-Am, Champ Car and Atlantics in the past. Mike and I are used to getting limited track time in Super Cup and Carrera Cup, so we should be fine. It will be a different kind of race in regard to setup and strategy, being a 90-minute sprint. The motors with more torque may have an advantage over our flat-six. If we can get a balanced setup and drive harder we should be able to negate that advantage with handling. It is definitely a 180 degree difference from Daytona and Homestead . Street courses are demanding on the driver, we just can't afford a mistake in the race or in practice."

" Long Beach will be an interesting race for us," said Alex Job. "This is a different type of track for our car and there is very limited track time to get it right before qualifying, let alone the race. There will also be some yellows during that limited practice, so I hope everyone can keep it clean so we can maximize the limited on track running that we do have next week. The six-cylinder may not pull off of that last turn like the V-8s, but I hope we can make up for it with handling around the rest of the track."

Round four of the Grand Am series will take the green flag at 7:00 p.m. EST on April 8 th and will be televised on the Speed Channel starting at 9:00 p.m. the same day.
