Alex Job Racing Qualifies Eighth at Mosport

Bowmanville, Canada  – Alex Job Racing qualified eighth for tomorrow’s running of round eight of the American Le Mans Series to take the green flag at Mosport International Raceway.

The edge of tropical storm Ernesto dropped rain on the track located just north of Toronto today.  The ALMS officials decided to take practice times to set the grid, as a result the number 23/Bell Microproducts/Alex Job Racing/Porsche was slated to go away from the GT2 grid from the fourth row, but will have to start from the back due to Mike Rockenfeller missing practice on the weekend.

Marcel Tiemann has handled all of the testing, practice and qualifying work at Mosport this weekend.  The German was able to go progressively faster culminating in a second place GT2 practice session effort in the rain.  Mike Rockenfeller had other racing obligations and will join the team for tomorrow’s warm-up.

Marcel Tiemann enjoyed taking his first laps at the famous Mosport circuit.  “The first practice I went faster that I have all week and I am getting more comfortable every lap.  It rained the second practice and we ran really well second overall in GT2. The track is one of the best I have ever driven, it is really fast.  I am hoping that it rains for the race as Mike and I can be very competitive for the win.  The dry would be alright as well.”

“Marcel has done a nice job this week,” said Holly Job, team owner.  “The Ferrari’s are really quick here in the dry and we are within a second on a new track for Marcel.  Mike will come in tomorrow and complete our team for the race.  Funny things tend to happen here in the races, so we are looking to carry over our podium from Road America a few weeks and better that tomorrow afternoon.”

The team was able to score a podium finish in the last race at Road America and hopes to build upon that performance at Mosport tomorrow.    Mosport has been a good track for the team from Florida, scoring wins there in 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2004.  The 2.5-mile, 10-turn undulating road course located just north of Toronto is the former home of the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Rockenfeller is currently seventh in drivers points, 44 out of the lead, with Alex Job Racing fourth in the team standings.

Round eight of the American Le Mans Series to be run at Mosport International Raceway will be televised live on Speed Channel, Sunday, September 3rd starting at 3:00 p.m. ET.
