Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Returns to Daytona

Tavares, Florida -- The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team is headed back to the World Center of Speed for round ten of the Grand American Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Reserve Brumos Porsche 250 to be run at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday.

This unique event will see the Ruby Tuesday team practice, qualify and race all within the matter of 14 hours. The team has but a-day-and-a-half to turn around the number 23 Ruby Tuesday car before running again on Thursday.

The Ruby Tuesday team has some unfinished business at Daytona. In the 24 hour race in January the Alex Job Racing prepared Porsche powered Crawford started from the pole position and led a number of laps and also set the fastest lap of the race. Axle boot failures stopped the team from getting on the top step of the podium, instead settling for third.

Patrick Long is ready to move up two steps at Daytona. “We were the class of the field at Daytona in January. The car really came out of the box well and we were able to run fast laps without a lot of real pressure. The other teams have come along way since then and we have had our troubles. We have the setup and Mike and I are motivated to return there and get what we thought we deserved in January – a win.”

Mike Rockenfeller is poised to get back to the winners circle. “Daytona is a great and historic sportscar track. In January we were really quick, but just had the bad luck with the axle boots. We also have had some bad luck lately, I think we can go to Daytona and put everything behind us and get this car back into the winners circle where it belonged in January.”

“It is a tight turn around for the team,” said Alex Job, team owner. “We came out of Mid-Ohio with just some mechanical issues that we have a plan to solve. We started this season on a real high note at Daytona, even though we did not win. We came away from there with a lot of confidence in our Porsche powered Crawford and looked forward to winning. Since then we have won twice and now have great backing from Ruby Tuesday. With all the pieces together now we are looking forward to returning to Daytona and closing the chapter on the year there with the win we thought we had in January.”:

The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team is currently seventh in the battle for the team championship. Long and Rockenfeller are eighth in the drivers point standings, 67 out of the lead in the Daytona Prototype category.

Round ten of the Grand American Rolex series from Daytona will be televised live on Speed Channel starting at 7:00 p.m. ET, Thursday, June 29th.
