Job Racing Qualifies Second in GT at Road America
Elk Hart,
Wisconsin – Alex
Job Racing qualified second for round seven of the American Le
Mans Series Generac 500 to be run at Road America tomorrow.
The second
place qualifying effort equals the team’s best
starting position on the season, having started second at Miller
Motorsport Park last month.
Mike Rockenfeller
took the honor of qualifying the number 23/Bell Microproducts/Alex
Job Racing/Porsche 911 RSR. The young
German turned a time of 2:07.485 with an average speed of 113 mph
around the four-mile, 12-turn Road America circuit.
Mike Rockenfeller
had hoped for pole position. “We
were fastest in two of the three practice sessions so I was definitely
going for the pole. The Petersen car put up a good lap right
off, it has been taking us about three laps for our tires to get
up to temperature for some reason, so it took me a few laps to
put in a time. Second equals my qualifying effort from Miller,
but with the Ferrari not going to well here this weekend it was
a good opportunity to steal a pole position for the team. We
will just have to finish first in the race tomorrow.”
Marcel Tiemann
is getting up to speed with the car, team and track. “I
am getting better with every stint I do in the car. The car
and the track are new to me this weekend and Mike was doing the
qualifying so he has seen maximum time in the car today. I
really like the Road America circuit; it has a nice flow and great
combination of fast and slow sections. The team has been
right on with the changes to the car and both Mike and I have improved
with every technical adjustment.”
“Mike did a good job in qualifying, we just came up a tenth
short,” said Alex Job, team owner. “We have been
fast and consistent in practice, running further up the order than
we really have all season through the sessions leading up to today. Not
sure what is exactly going on with the Ferrari team, but we are
going to try and get another win and get our season back on track
tomorrow.”
Alex Job Racing has an excellent track record at Road America
with wins in 2004 and 2002.
Rockenfeller is currently ninth in drivers points, 49 out of the
lead, with Alex Job Racing fifth in the team standings.
Round seven of the American Le Mans Series to be run at Road America
will be televised live on Speed Channel, Sunday, August 20th starting
at 1:00 p.m. ET.
