Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Fourth Quickest In Practice At Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif. (May 18, 2007) - Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team driver Patrick Long, of Las Vegas, Nev., turned the fourth fastest lap in today's Grand-Am Rolex Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve practice sessions, in preparation for Sunday's U.S. Sports Car Invitational delivered by Luggage Express at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Long piloted the No. 23 Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Porsche Crawford Daytona Prototype in both of today's practice sessions. In the morning practice, Long ended up turning the fourth quickest overall time of the day with 1:21.587 (98.751 mph) just 0.743-second off the leader's pace.

In the closing minutes of the late afternoon session, Long was looking for some more speed out of the Alex Job Racing-prepared Porsche Crawford. The team put on new tires, made a couple of front end adjustments and sent Long back onto the track. On his out lap, the session was black flagged to remove a car from the Turn Nine gravel. Long brought the No. 23 machine to pit lane with the hopes that he would get another shot at topping the speed charts. But, he would not get the chance as the session ended under a black flag. Long would eventually settle for turning the sixth fastest lap of the session with a 1:21.940 (98.191 mph).

"Overall, I am generally happy with what we were able to achieve today," Long said of both practice sessions. "We are continuing to improve this car. We are learning more and more about it and updating it as much as we can."

"Overall, we are pretty pleased with practice today," team owner Alex Job said. "Unfortunately this second session was cut short. We just put on fresh rubber and never got the chance to get a lap. We don't really know where we are [with the car]. We believe that if we had the chance to make a new tire run, we would have been right up at the top. We are still tweaking on the car. So, a little more practice and qualifying tomorrow, we'll see what it brings."

With one top-five and three top-10 finishes this season, Bergmeister and Long both sit in seventh place with 89 points (38 points behind the leaders) in the Grand-Am Rolex Series Daytona Prototype Driver Point standings. Similarly, the Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing team is also in seventh place in the Grand-Am Rolex Series Team Point standings with 89 points.

Daytona Prototype practice resumes at 9 a.m. (PDT) Saturday, April 19, with qualifying at 11:05 a.m. (PDT). Grand-Am Rolex Series Daytona Prototype race fans can catch all of the exciting race action from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca live on SPEED Channel beginning at 1 p.m. (PDT) Sunday, May 20.
