Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Makes First Trip To Mexico City

The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team will make its first-ever trip south of the border to take part in this weekend's Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve Mexico City 400.

Drivers Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long will pilot the Alex Job Racing prepared No. 23 Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Porsche powered Crawford Daytona Prototype. Bergmeister is the only one of the driving duo with experience on the 14-turn, 2.5-mile road course at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. In fact, Bergmeister finished second at this event last year in a Daytona Prototype.

"To put the car on the podium, you need to have a quick car and a clean race from the drivers and the pit crew," Bergmeister said. "If we can put it all together, I think we will have a good shot at a podium finish.

"I really like the track. It is very challenging and technical for a driver, especially in the Esses. It is hard to find the 'perfect line.' On the front straight, you would like to have little down force. But, in the Esses, you would like to have as much as you can get. At this track, you need to find the right compromise."

"It will be my first race in Mexico City, but Jörg has a lot of experience at that track," the Las Vegas resident Long said. "I think he will be able to get a pretty quick baseline of how we need to set up the car and help me get up to speed. It seems like a great track. I look forward to the race. It will be fun to bring Ruby Tuesday south of the border."

"We are excited about the opportunity to bring the Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team to Mexico City and to put on a good show for all of the race fans there," team owner Alex Job said. "Although this will be our first trip to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track, we will still be looking to put the No. 23 Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Porsche Crawford in victory circle."

After finishing 12th in the Grand-Am Rolex Series season opener at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Bergmeister and Long both sit in 12th position with 19 points in the Daytona Prototype driver point standings.

In preparation for the Mexico City 400, the No. 23 Porsche Crawford will turn its first practice laps at 1 p.m. (CST) Thursday, March 3, while Daytona Prototype qualifying is set for 11:40 a.m. (CST) Friday, March 2. Grand-Am race fans can catch all of the exciting race action from Mexico City on Speed Channel beginning at 3 p.m. (EST) Saturday, March 3, with the green flag dropping at 3:15 p.m. (CST).
