Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing set for Supercar Life 250 at New Jersey Motorsports Park

TAVARES, Fla. - The Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team heads into the penultimate round of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series season still looking for its first win of the year. It's a win they hope to get in Sunday's Supercar Life 250 at the recently completed New Jersey Motorsports Park.
Because this circuit is brand new, coupled with the fact that no one else has had the opportunity to run on this track, drivers Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand like their chances to win at the Garden State's newest racing facility.
"I like going to tracks where no one has been before," Hand said. "We lack test time and knowledge of this race car. But, when you go to a race track that no one has knowledge of, it kind of changes their knowledge of their race car also. It evens the playing field and I think we will be contenders there."
"I had to start doing my research," Auberlen said. "Now I have all of the dimensions, schematics and the YouTube footage. A new track means that no one really has an advantage yet. This team is very good at making the right setup changes. But, we will need to react quickly to get the handling right early in the weekend."
"It's always exciting when you get to go to a new track," Team Owner Alex Job said. "There is so much to learn in such a short amount of time. But, that's what makes it fun. No one really has a significant advantage over the other. That being said, I think we have two drivers who are really pretty good at learning new tracks quickly. If we can hit the right setup early in the weekend, I like our chances to win."
Driving the No. 23 Ruby Tuesday Championship Racing Team Porsche-powered Riley, Auberlen and Hand will try to tame the 2.25-mile, 14-turn road course when they hit the track for the first time at 10:20 a.m. (ET), Friday, Aug. 29 for a 50-minute combined practice session. At 11:10 a.m. (ET), the session becomes a 25-minute Daytona Prototype only practice session. The No. 23 machine will return to the track for a 40-minute practice session at 2:40 p.m. (ET). Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series practice resumes at 9:15 a.m. (ET), Saturday, Aug. 30, followed by a 15-minute Daytona Prototype qualifying session at 1:50 p.m. (ET). All Rolex Series teams will get one final 30-minute practice session beginning at 8 a.m. (ET), Sunday, Aug. 31. Race fans can watch all of the exciting door-to-door action from round 13 live on SPEED with coverage beginning at 1 p.m. Fans can also watch live timing and scoring at www.grand-am.com.
