Alex Job Racing driver Mitch Pagerey tests new Yokohama tire at Sebring

TAVARES, Fla. (Feb. 12, 2009) - In preparation for the upcoming Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama series season, Alex Job Racing driver Mitch Pagerey took to the track for the first time in 2009 to test the new Yokohama tire - the tire that all Patrón GT3 Challenge competitors will use this season.

Pagerey used last weekend's Porsche Club of America event at Sebring International Raceway as somewhat of a test session to learn more about the new tire. Last season, series' competitors used Michelin tires. But this year, the series changed to Yokohamas - which has many competitors wondering how the new tires will perform.

Pagerey's test went well. In fact, his time of 2:10.209 (on the long course) was better than the defending series champion Bob Faieta's pole-winning time of 2:10.311 from a year ago at Sebring. With the season opener a little more than a month away, this is good news for a team who narrowly missed winning the Driver's Championship last season.

"Mitch looked very strong this weekend," Team Owner Alex Job said. "We used the Porsche Club event to get Mitch some seat time in the Porsche GT3 with the new Yokohama tires and he performed very well. And, speaking of performance, there's been a lot of speculation about how the Yokohama tires will perform and, I have to say, I am very pleased with their performance. Between the driver, the car and the new tires, we should have a real strong package heading into Sebring next month."

The 2009 Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama season gets underway March 19-20 with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway. The series then moves west for the Utah Grand Prix May 16-17 at Miller Motorsports Park. After a three month break, the series returns to action for the Generac 500 Aug. 15-16 at Road America. Immediately following Road America, teams head to Canada for the Grand Prix of Mosport Aug. 29-30 at Mosport International Raceway. Following Mosport, teams will have three weeks to prepare for Petit Le Mans Sept. 24-25 at Road Atlanta. The beautiful Monterey peninsula will once again play host to the Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama season finale and the Monterey Sports Car Championships Oct. 10-11 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Each event will feature two 30-minute races, except for the season finale. The final event will consist of one 30-minute race and a one hour and 15 minute endurance race.
