Alex Job Racing Heads North to Mosport
Tavares, FL, (Aug. 24, 2010), Alex Job Racing (AJR) is heading to Mosport International Raceway for the penultimate round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patron for Sunday's two-hour-and-forty-five-minute race.
Driver Bill Sweedler has never driven or even seen the historic Mosport International Raceway. Teammate Romeo Kapudija has limited laps at Mosport, mostly in the rain. When they take to the track for the first time in a test session on Wednesday, the duo will be going to school at the circuit in their No. 23 Battery Tender/Tequila Patron/Porsche. Although the drivers will be learning, AJR is no stranger to the 2.5-mile, 10-turn undulating road course. Last year the team won the first race and placed third in the second in the Patron GT3 Challenge Series. In addition, the team has posted wins there in 1999, 2000, 2003 and 2004.
"I'm looking forward to driving the Battery Tender/Tequila Patron/AJR Porsche at Mosport," Sweedler said. "While I have never been there, I hear it is a track that is custom made for my driving style. Romeo and I are focused on getting back to the podium this weekend. The team has a rich history at Mosport and we are hoping to draw off of their data and experience to put ourselves in a position to be successful on Sunday."
Kapudija has limited experience at Mosport, having driven a Mustang there in 2005.
"My only race there was in 2005 when I raced a Ford Mustang GT FR500C," Kapudija said. "I recall learning this high speed track in the rain which was challenging to say the least. My teammate Adam Pecorari and I mustered up a seventh place finish in what was a very grueling race. As far as set-up is concerned, we will primarily focus setting the car up for the high speed corners of one, two and three. We can lose a lot of time through these sections if the car is not handling well at high speeds. To get our first win at Mosport we will need a lot of luck. We are coming off a weekend at Road America where the racing Gods were not on our side. We struggled a bit with our car in practice and then the crew did a fantastic job of getting the Porsche in shape for the race. I led most of the laps early on in the race and then we had the starter malfunction. At Mosport we are hoping for a better result and I am sure Bill and I will be consistently quick as always."
Alex Job, team owner, will have Sweedler and Kapudija on a steep learning curve this week.
"Mosport can be a very daunting place," Job said. "It is one of the last unmolested layouts left over from the real hay-day of sports car racing. We have a lot of data and we think we have a very good baseline set-up for the car to start with for the test session on Wednesday. It is a very fast turnaround from Road America, but we will make it work. We will provide all of the tools for Bill and Romeo to be successful this weekend. There is still a chance for us to make a run at the points championship, but we will need a great run and some bad luck to befell our competition."
The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron travels race from Mosport International Raceway will be televised on the SPEED Channel, Sunday, August 29 starting at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Alex Job Racing is one of the most successful teams in ALMS history with 39 wins. This record is supported by 46 pole positions and 80 podium finishes. The team has won three championships (GT in 2002, 2003 and 2004) complimented by their two GT class wins at Le Mans. The team also boasts seven Sebring 12 hour wins.
The ALMS GTC category is specific to one of the most popular factory produced racing cars in the world, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Developed for Porsche's one-make series around the world, the new version of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is based on the road-going 911 GT3 RS. The power unit featured in the new 911 GT3 Cup is largely identical to the production engine of the 911 GT3 RS with the same output of 450 bhp and the same maximum engine speed of 8,500 rpm..
