Alex Job Racing to Start from Third Row in GTC at Mosport
Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, (Aug. 28, 2010), Alex Job Racing (AJR) has regrouped and will start from the third row of the GTC grid for tomorrow's American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron race at Mosport International Raceway.
The team has overcome a mid-week crash that injured AJR regular Romeo Kapudija necessitating the team to reenlist past AJR driver Mitch Pagerey to complete the weekend. Pagerey had the controls of the No. 23 Battery Tender/Tequila Patron 997 for qualifying. The Deerfield, Florida resident put in a time 1:23.324, good for a third row starting position in GTC.
"My first race weekend at Mosport has been interesting to say the least," Sweedler said. "We had an unfortunate incident with Romeo in practice on Wednesday. He is OK, which is the most important thing. The AJR guys did an amazing job putting the Battery Tender/Tequila Patron Porsche back together. The only minor issue for me is I have never been here before. Missing track time on Wednesday hurt me. We started the official weekend with me learning the track in about a half-hour yesterday. It is unbelievable, very high speed and a wicked track to race around. Mitch and I were competitors last year in the GT3 Challenge Series. Mitch came in on a moment's notice and has done a great job so far. He won the GT3 race here last year, so he knows his way around Mosport. Mitch and I are pretty close on what we like on the set-up of the car. We will see what the race brings."
Pagerey flew into Toronto on Thursday after getting the call from Job late Wednesday.
"It is a good opportunity to run with these guys this weekend," Pagerey said. "We have been able to run a pretty good pace. I got everything out of the car that I could in qualifying, about 99 out of 100%. We will go back with the AJR guys and see if we can make some slight improvements for the warm-up and try to get just a little more out of it for the race. We are looking for a car that is good over the long run."
Team owner, Alex Job, has his team back on-track and the car is ready to race.
"Mitch has come in just like I knew he would and has gotten right down to business," Job said. "Bill is new to this track and is improving with every lap. With the work we had to do on the car after Wednesday I am very proud of this team. To look at it on TV it doesn't even look like we had a big off on Wednesday. That is a credit to the crew."
The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron travels race from Mosport International Raceway will be televised on the SPEED Channel, Sunday, August 29 starting at 4:00 p.m. ET.
