Alex Job Racing Ready for New Baltimore ALMS Street Race

AJR Baltimore Advance

TAVARES, FL, (Aug. 30, 2011) - Alex Job Racing's (AJR) Bill Sweedler and Leh Keen are ready to take on the new American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patron Baltimore Grand Prix to be run Sept. 2-3.

The Baltimore racetrack is a temporary street circuit that runs in and around the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards. The tight, two-mile, 12-turn circuit is a welcome layout to AJR's Bill Sweedler, Westport, Connecticut. Sweedler has excelled at the country's most famous street circuit that runs through the streets of Long Beach, California. Together with teammate Leh Keen, the duo posted the team's best result of the season so far, second.

"I'm looking forward to another street circuit race considering our success at Long Beach," Sweedler said. "The newly Baltimore layout looks awesome. Leh and I are ready to fight for a win! Since this is only a two-hour race, the pace will be flat out. There will most likely be one pit stop and our AJR team has performed flawlessly throughout the year. Our Battery Tender Porsche is all charged up! I can't wait to get on the streets of Baltimore!"

Keen, from Charleston, South Carolina, is doing his homework and is equally excited to make tracks on the new circuit.

"I've been studying the track layout and am very excited to get out on the Baltimore streets," Keen said. "We had a great run at Long Beach and I expect to have the same result this weekend. AJR is really due for a win. The No. 23 Battery Tender Porsche has had some bad luck recently, and it's time to change that around. The GTC class has really heated up with some strong entries. However, I know AJR is the best team in the class, and I can't wait to get back in the car. A two-hour race means an all-out sprint from lap one. Bill did an awesome Job on the streets of Long Beach taking the lead on the first lap and holding it for his entire stint. He really likes the street courses, as do I. We are excited and looking to do well this weekend."

Team owner, Alex Job, has his team poised to get back on the podium this weekend.

"Bill and Leh are excited to run the new Baltimore track," Job said. "We are coming off two tough outings at Mid-Ohio and Road America, so we are looking forward to this weekend. The two-hour time limit puts a real premium on running a clean race and having a spectacular one pit stop. Bill really takes to these concrete lined street courses, and I hope that carries over to this weekend. He and Leh had a great run at Long Beach with Bill leading most of the first half of that race. We want to duplicate that effort on Saturday, but finishing one more step up the podium for a win!"

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron Baltimore Grand Prix can be viewed live on ESPN3.com starting at 4:15 p.m. ET, Saturday, Sept. 3, with a rebroadcast airing on ABC at 4 p.m. ET, Sunday, Sept. 4.

Alex Job Racing is one of the most successful teams in ALMS history with 39 wins. This record is supported by 46 pole positions and 75 podium finishes. The team has won three championships (GT in 2002, 2003 and 2004) complimented by their two GT class wins at Le Mans. The team also boasts seven Sebring 12-hour wins.

The ALMS GTC category is specific to one of the most popular factory produced racing cars in the world, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Developed for Porsche's one-make series around the world, the new version of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is based on the road-going 911 GT3 RS. The power unit featured in the new 911 GT3 Cup is largely identical to the production engine of the 911 GT3 RS with the same output of 450 bhp and the same maximum engine speed of 8,500 rpm.
