-- For Immediate Release
Alex Job Racing to
Debut New Drivers and Cars at Sebring
Tavares, Florida - Returning American
Le Mans Series GT class champions
Alex Job Racing will unload at
Sebring with new cars and two
new drivers Marc Lieb and Romain
Dumas. The new pilots will
join last years GT class runner-up pairing of Jorg
Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard in the Alex Job Racing/Mail2Web
Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs.
Marc Lieb returns to AJR from the FIA GT series
where he finished the season second overall with
three wins and three-second place finishes. In
addition to his four ALMS starts in 2003 at Sebring,
Trois-Rivieres, Mosport and Miami, Lieb raced
with AJR in 2002 at Sebring.
Dumas has already logged a victory with the AJR
team at Petit Le Mans last year, driving with Bergmeister
and Bernhard. Also in 2003 he drove for Porsche
at the Nurburgring, Hockenheim, Zandvort and the
Spa 24 Hours. At Le Mans, Dumas drove the Team
Nassamax prototype and had starts in a Toyota Atlantic
and Opel DTM car in '03.
The foursome will be piloting the new Porsche 911
GT3 RSR racers. For 2004 the cars will use
a sequential gearbox for the full season. In
addition, the cars will have enhanced front and rear
bumpers as well as more muscular fender flares giving
the 911 a stronger stance. Overall there are
more than 200 new items on this years car. To
highlight the package, AJR will have a new livery
to debut at Sebring.
"We have added Marc and Romain to the team this year
replacing Sascha Maassen and Lucas Luhr, who will race
in Europe this season. Romain raced with us at
Petit Le Mans last year, so he is no stranger to the
team. Marc is someone who has a lot of Porsche
experience and has previous starts in the ALMS series. I
have a lot of confidence in our four drivers to be
able to keep the team at the top and further our excellent
record in the series," said Alex Job, team owner. "We
will have Sascha and Lucas in the cars for Sebring
and Petit Le Mans, giving us a good base of experience
in each car for the longer races. The new car
is an improvement in several areas, nothing radical,
just typical Porsche making something great even better. With
the new car and the always competitive Michelin tires,
we are looking forward to another great year."
The team has added Tim Pendergast as team manager. Pendergast
comes to AJR from the American Le Mans series where
he was operations and special projects director. Mike
Evans continues as the team's technical director,
with Greg Fordahl handling the engineering duties. At
Sebring, Kerry Foote will crew chief the #24 car
with Evans and Phil Pierce handling the #23 entry.
Based in Florida, the team considers Sebring its
home track. AJR will be looking for their fourth
win in as many years at the famed circuit. In
2001 Sascha Maassen set the GT class qualifying record
with a time of 2:06.764 and an average speed of 105.07
mph. Also in 2001, Maassen, Lucas Luhr and
Emmanuel Collard set the GT class race distance record
with 326 laps (1,206.2 miles) completed.
