Lime Rock All
New to Alex Job Racing Drivers
Tavares, Florida
-- Alex Job Racing will have to get reacquainted with the short
Lime Rock circuit this weekend for round three of the American Le
Mans Series. The team has not been to the track since 1998 and the
four AJR drivers have never seen the seven turn 1.54-mile layout.
Only days after
their second and seventh place effort at Mid-Ohio, the team travels
directly to the rolling hills of Connecticut to prepare for the
July 5th race. The drivers will also arrive early so they can get
a feel for the uncommon layout of the shortest circuit on the ALMS
schedule.
"Lime Rock
looks like a fast track on paper," said Jorg Bergmeister, driver
of the number 23 McKenna/mail2web/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3
RSR. "I like fast tracks so I am really looking forward to
racing there. The layout is all right hand corners with one left
and then a great looking down hill last turn that should be a real
challenge. We really don't have such a short track in Europe, so
it will be interesting to see how everyone handles the traffic."
After a disappointing
Mid-Ohio Romain Dumas is glad that the next race weekend is only
five days away. "Mid-Ohio was tough on Marc and I, so we are
ready for a better performance," said the French driver. "Lime
Rock looks fast and hilly with some quick corners. It is completely
different from Mid-Ohio. The short layout means that traffic will
play a big role, which makes you busy driving the car always being
aware of who is around you. Qualifying will be important as there
doesn't seem to be a lot of room to pass."
"The last
time I was there was 6-years ago. I imagine that the GT cars will
be doing 54 or 56 second lap times and that the prototypes will
easily be in the high 40s," said Alex Job, team owner. "A
lot of people will be relearning the track and the strategy. The
drivers will have to adapt and they will have to drive a clean race.
The track is very much like an oval where momentum plays a key role.
I think it will be a race of survival and I am sure we will get
some typical Lime Rock rain during the weekend."
Following Mid-Ohio,
Timo Bernhard stands alone in first place in the driver's standings
with 42.
Round three
of the American Le Mans Series will be July 5th and televised live
on Speed Channel starting at 3:00 p.m. EST.
