AJR Heads North of the Border to Mosport
Tavares,
Florida -- Alex Job Racing will take its McKenna/mail2web.com/Xybernaut/Alex
Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs north of border to Mosport International
Raceway for round six of the American Le Mans Series to be run on
August 8th.
Romain
Dumas and Marc Lieb put their stamp on the ALMS GT record books
by getting their first victory as a driving duo at Portland. Dumas'
streak of three pole positions in a row will end at Mosport as Lieb
will be qualifying the car. The Alex Job record of pole positions
in the ALMS currently stands at 22 in a row.
The
four AJR drivers did not have a weekend off between Portland and
Mosport. The foursome were in Belgium driving Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs
in the Spa 24 Hours. Romain Dumas took top team honors winning the
N-GT class and placing third overall. Bernhard and Bergmeister came
in second and directly behind in third place was Marc Lieb.
Teammates
Jorg Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard will be trying to defend their
win at Mosport from last year. "Timo and I both like the track
very much. To defend our win from last year it would be nice if
no one hit us this race," said Bergmeister. "My favorite
part of the circuit is turn four because it's almost flat out with
a blind entry at about 215 km/h (134 mph). I also like turns eight
and nine, the esses, which is a fast right-hander followed by a
slower left-hander. You have to be careful if you are too fast in
eight, you will have problems getting the proper entry in nine."
Mosport
is one of three tracks on the schedule that Marc Lieb visited last
year. He was able to race to stand on the podium, finishing in third
place. "Mosport is one of my favorite tracks. It is very fast
with a great blind corner and the turn two downhill is a lot of
fun," said Lieb. "I also have a little pressure to keep
our car on pole position after Romain's poles in the last three
races. Romain and I had a near perfect race at Portland, it will
take the same to win again at Mosport."
"The
team has been able to win our last two events at Infineon and Portland.
Our two rookies, Dumas and Lieb, are giving our two veterans a real
run for their money every practice session, qualifying and the race,"
said Alex Job, team owner. "I don't remember when the points
chase has been this close in the GT category. I think the team is
really coming together and starting to show our true form."
Round
six the American Le Mans Series will be August 8th and televised
live on CBS starting at 12:00 p.m. EST.
