Alex Job Racing Qualifies Third and Sixth
in GT2 for Sebring
Sebring, Florida - Alex
Job Racing will start the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring from
third and sixth position in GT2 Saturday. The American
Le Mans Series officials cancelled today's qualifying
session due to rain.
The team has spent the past three days dialing in the number 23/mail2web.com/Hyatt/
Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and the number 24/BellMicroproducts/
ProVest/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR for the 12-hour race to be run
on Saturday.
2004 ALMS GT driver's champion Timo Bernhard was scheduled to qualify the
number 23 car today. "I am very disappointed we did not qualify today. We
have not had the opportunity to run at full pace, I think we could have had
the pole. We have a good dry setup; we just needed the opportunity to
show the speed. It is a long race so the qualifying is not as important
as we are at then end of the race."
Randy Pobst would have been the qualifying driver in the number 24 entry. "I
was the fastest car this morning in wet practice. I am not sure that
we had a pole car, but I would have liked the opportunity to find out. Sixth
is a little further back than I would like, but 12 hours is a long time to
make that up."
"Neither car has yet to run to its fullest potential," said Alex Job, team owner. "This
just makes us accelerate our program a little more. We have a good dry
setup; we were just working through some small issues. Twelve hours is
a long race and it is the result we are looking for at the end of the evening
on Saturday. Third and sixth is a little further back than we are used
to starting, but our drivers are patient and professional and the team is well
practiced to help in the pits."
