Alex Job Racing Looks to Rebound at Road
Atlanta
Tavares, Florida - Alex
Job Racing is looking to rebound following a tough 12-hours
of Sebring. The team will travel
to Braselton, Georgia for round two of the American Le Mans Series
race to be run at Road Atlanta next week.
Following the first double DNF in the teams 17-year history,
Alex Job Racing is poised to return to the front of the GT2 field
at Road Atlanta. "We
rehashed the Sebring race a thousand times," said Alex Job, team owner. "Both
our guys and the Porsche Motorsport engineers have studied the parts and race
scenario from Sebring. We are ready for a fresh weekend that we can put
Sebring behind us and get back to winning. Our record at Road Atlanta
is pretty solid, we have managed to win the last two events there."
Defending GT2 series champion Timo Bernhard, driving the number 23 mail2web.com
/Hyatt/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, knows that he has an up-hill battle
the remainder of the season. "Sebring did not help our situation concerning
the championship and our ambitions to win again, but that is Motorsport. I
will go into the next races with the same goal - win. With the team and
the Porsche package we have we will stay competitive. Romain and myself
are very motivated to make up for lost ground at Road Atlanta. We dug
ourselves a little hole at Sebring. We gave up valuable points as well
as bonus points."
"With our unfortunate finish at Sebring, Timo and I will have to push every race," said
Romain Dumas. "We are now in a position that we must score points in every
race. With the Alex Job team behind us and the strength of the Porsche
we go into each race weekend believing that we can win. At Road Atlanta
the Panoz will be a force as it is their home circuit."
"It is going to be nice to sleep in my own bed as I live just up the road in
Gainesville. I have spent a lot of time and done a lot of laps at the track. We
had an unusual parts issue at Sebring with our transmission. Although the
race did not turn out as expected, it was the first race with Ian Baas
and myself and we got along really well and I am looking forward to racing with
him the rest of the season. He is taking a measured approach and doing
the job behind the wheel. The setup we had Sebring will be a great starting
point next week and I am looking forward to being a lot more competitive."
"Sebring was a difficult start," said Ian Baas. "I really like Road Atlanta.
I like the first combination of turns followed by the run up to turn seven. In
the Formula Ford it was exciting, in the Porsche it should be a challenge. Last
year in the Formula 2000 I qualified in the top five. Compared to Sebring,
Road Atlanta will be like racing on a pool table. We should have our bad
luck behind us now with the issues that we had in the first race. The team
has worked hard to get to the bottom of the failures in Sebring, the first day
of practice will tell the tale."
Round two of the ALMS series at Road Atlanta event will be televised live on
CBS starting at 12:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 17th.
