24 Heures du Mans Test
The
Alex Job Racing #71 Porsche GT3RS racing team sponsored by
BAM! and Yokohama had a most productive day at the 24 Hours
of Le Mans Pre-Test held Sunday, June 5 , 2005 on the 13.658
km course. The team made great progress and improved its
times throughout the day with ever-better car and tires set-up
and analysis, and the Yokohama ADVAN tires, which are being
made available under a joint development effort between Yokohama
and BAM!, performed exceptionally well. The nine-hour test
gave the three drivers, who last raced together as a team
in the 2004 Le Mans race, a great opportunity to get reacquainted
with the circuit, and at the end of the Test the team had
recorded the fourth best lap time in class, with Mike Rockenfeller
at the wheel. Everyone is looking forward to a successful
race.
Drivers'
thoughts
Leo
Hindery: "That was as good a day as you can
have here in just one day of testing. Our result was a real compliment
to Yokohama , to Porsche and to the crew. You show up here and
need to do everything really well in the one day you have - and
we did. I had by far the best lap time of my four years at Le Mans
, and I owe everything to Yokohama , Porsche, the crew and my co-drivers.
It was a wonderful, wonderful day."
Marc
Lieb: " I
think we had a really good test day today. We worked out a lot
of things. I think the set-up of the car is now really good for
the race. We all had very decent lap times, even while still
developing the tires and setting up the car. It was a really
fun day and it's just great to be back at Le Mans , for my third
time in a row."
Mike Rockenfeller: "I
think we had a very good day. Unfortunately at the end when I
was on softer tires trying to go for fastest lap, it started
to rain , but
being fourth in class still generally met our goal. I think we
are now very close to having a race-winning car and tires, and
I am very grateful to the guys, to Porsche and to Yokohama . We
will now see how it goes for the race."
Team
Perspective
Alex
Job, Team Manager: "I
am very pleased with our day at Le Mans , and everything went
very well. We wound up being fourth quickest for the day. We
were second quickest most of the day but then rain came at the
end and we got cut short by about five minutes- so we weren't
able to set our fast lap at the end. But we continued to work
with the car and the tires all day, and I think we made a lot
of progress -- and the drivers did a great job. Mike and Marc
did their usual Porsche-driver expert job. Leo went quicker than
he's ever gone here; he did a great job, so we're very pleased.
Although we didn't go as quick as maybe we had hoped today, our
focus is the race. We weren't really focusing on a fast time
today and we feel like we're in very good shape for coming back
in two weeks for the race.
Tim Munday, Engineer and Crew Chief: We arrived
this morning with a lot of unknowns in the tires and the car set-up
after a bad event at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago kept us from getting
any practice time. We worked through all of the car set-up and
tire options for this event and now believe we have found good
solutions for the race and for qualifying. All three drivers are
now comfortable with the package and are able to run consistently
fast lap times for the race distance. Leo Hindery improved his
personal best time from 2004 by a substantial amount and is confidently
predicting even faster times in the up and coming practice sessions.
The team collaboration between Alex Job Racing and BAM! is gelling
nicely, with all team members applying their particular expertise
to one common goal- Race Victory!
Race
Week
The
crew will spend the next few days prepping the car for race
week. They will have it ready to go on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 for
their scheduled scrutineering appointment from 11:40 am to 12:10
pm . As is the tradition at Le Mans , the car will be transported
to Place des Jacobins in the center of Le Mans for technical
inspection.
Practice/Qualifying sessions will be held on both Wednesday, June
15 and Thursday, June 16 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and 10:00pm to

be used as the team's qualifying time.

to make final race preparations. The traditional drivers' parade
