1 st Practice Qualifying Session:
The Alex Job Racing sponsored by BAM! Porsche Team participated
in the 1 st practice qualifying session of the 24 Hours of Le Mans
on Wednesday, June 15, 2005. Although the weather conditions were
poor, with rain throughout most of the 4 hours of practice, the
time proved to be very valuable to the team- as they have not yet
had an opportunity to test the Yokohama ADVAN wet tires.
Driver's Thoughts:
Mike Rockenfeller: It
was a great day for us. Unfortunately it was not the best weather.
It was raining and it was the first time for me and I think for
Marc and Leo in the rain at Le Mans . We tried to find out where
the best line is and how it is in the rain and we sorted out the
tires in the rain. We did a good job. The car was running fine
the whole time. We did our qualifying laps in the night. We are
third quickest in class which is great. Leo and Marc did a great
job. No one spun and there was no damage to the car. I think it
was a perfect qualifying session today. Hopefully tomorrow it will
be even a little better so maybe we can move forward and be on
the pole.
Team Perspective:
Tim Munday,
Crew Chief, and Engineer: The test
session this evening was very productive. It was the first time
we've run on the Yokohama wets and on the intermediates and we
found out a lot about which tire is going to work for us if it
happens to rain during the race. The drivers did a great job and
everybody qualified. All in all it was very productive although
not what we had wanted to do, but if it does rain in the race I
think we're in good shape. Tomorrow we can go back out and do some
serious dry running and get the car dialed in and ready for the
race start.
2 nd Practice Qualifying Session:
The
team will participate in the 2 nd practice qualifying session on
Thursday, June 16, 2005. The session will again consist of 4 total
practice hours. The team is hoping for clear skies and a dry track
in order to determine their final car and tire set-up for the race.
