Alex Job Racing Looking
For Three In A Row At Infineon
Tavares
, Florida - Alex Job Racing is heading
west with a string of two wins at Mid-Ohio and Lime Rock Park ,
two venues the team has never won at in the past. Round five of
the American Le Mans Series will be run at Infineon Raceway on
July 17 th .
In 2004 the team finished second at Infineon only to inherit the
win after the regulation victor was found in violation of a pit
stop. AJR drivers Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard have won the last
two ALMS GT2 events. The duo of Randy Pobst and Ian Baas are coming
off a season's best finish at Lime Rock of fourth.
Dumas and Bernhard
share the lap records at Infineon; Dumas in qualifying and Bernhard
the race lap record. The duo will be driving their number 23/Hyatt/Bell
Microproducts/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR and are looking
to improve on their second place standing in the GT2 points standings. "We have been able to put together
three good races in a row," said Bernhard. "We are very familiar
with the Infineon layout and the team always has a good car straight
off of the truck. Romain and I are focused on winning, because
we have to with the points we lost at Sebring."
"Timo and I have won two in a row," said Dumas. "Infineon
is a great circuit, it has many turns and no straights, so there
is no time sit back and watch the grapes grow. Timo and I have
to score maximum points every race. The next two races will be
important towards the championship."
Randy Pobst
and teammate Ian Boss are knocking on the top ten in driver points
on the heals of their best finish of the season at Lime Rock. "Infineon has long been one of my favorite tracks
because it has so many turns and hills - straights are boring.
Entering the carousel is a challenge, bumpy brake zone over the
hill into a downhill sweeper and the car doesn't want to turn.
This is also a fairly fast part of the circuit. The 24 car was
the best it has been at Lime Rock. Ian is showing some real speed
so we are ready for the West Coast!"
"I like Infineon," said
Ian Baas. I like the elevation changes and the fast turn one.
I think Randy and I are coming to grips with the car and each
other. We had a real positive run at Lime Rock. The car is starting
to react the way we want. My times are coming down as I get more
comfortable with the car and the competition. I had some good
racing seat time in the car at Lime Rock and that helps me to
further understand its characteristics so I can contribute more
to the setup. It takes a different driving style than the formula
cars I am used to driving."
"The team has a lot of momentum as we head west," said Alex Job. "Lime
Rock started kind of tough as we didn't qualify as well as we would
have liked. Infineon is a race we have always performed well at
in the past, winning there in 2004, 2003 and 2002. Randy and Ian
are showing some life and we need to get them on the podium with
Romain and Timo."
The Infineon Technologies Grand Prix of Sonoma will be televised
live on CBS starting at 2:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, July 17 th.
