North to Mosport
Tavares ,
Florida - Alex Job Racing
will be looking to add win number six on the season when they travel
to Mosport International Raceway for round eight of the American
Le Mans Series.
Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas will be looking to get back to
their winning ways at the Canadian track following a second place
at Road America two weeks ago. The duo lead the later laps, by
some 50-seconds, only to be foiled by a late race yellow which
interrupted team strategy and meant a near photo finish at the
checkered flag.
In 2004 Timo Bernhard won the GT2 class at Mosport. The 2.5-mile
10-turn circuit is challenging and one the AJR driver's like to
visit. The German knows that every race counts.
"I expect it
to be close! In Road America other teams were luckier than us
with strategy, otherwise it would have been different for us.
Fuel strategy is a gamble that makes every race interesting and
is something that is difficult to foresee. Romain and I will
drive like the races when we had to come back from our zero points
start. It has worked and will work for the finish of the season
as well. I have a lot of respect for Mosport. If you make a mistake
it hurts, like last year with our 24 car."
Romain Dumas
shares Timo's drive. "Timo and I have been on a mission
since our tough start at Sebring. We need to keep the fire burning
right up and through Laguna. Petersen is right in our shadow every
race and as we witnessed at Road America , ready to pounce when
we stumble. Mosport is a great circuit. I had some tough luck there
last year, but I like the layout and the fast down hill, off-camber
second turn."
Ian Baas had
the opportunity in June to race vintage cars at Mosport. "I
was up at Mosport in June racing on a historic weekend driving
an old Atlantic car," said Ian Baas. "I go flat through turn one
and two in that car, not sure in the Porsche. I like Mosport, it
has different turns and a lot of racing history. We are going to
need to get the car handling, with the off-camber turns. Turns
one-and-two are really fast, then the challenging turn three-and-four
combination takes a good set-up under the car. Darren and I will
have the opportunity to turn some laps on Tuesday to further work
on our cars handling."
"Last year at Mosport I finished on the podium," said Darren Law,
driver of the number 24/Hyatt/Alex Job Racing/ProVest/Porsche 911
GT3 RSR. "We had a decent run at Road America , it was good for
Ian and I to get a complete race under our belt together. We need
to keep working on the handling of the car. We are experiencing
some trouble with the front grip and Mosport is a real handling
track. The team is doing the work and I am looking forward to a
good run."
"We had the race won at Road America , but our strategy was about
20-seconds short of the mark," said Alex Job. "Timo and Romain,
I am sure, will use that as motivation at Mosport this weekend.
We had the opportunity to test with Darren and Ian yesterday. The
more miles we get with those two the better. The test allowed us
to get them that much more comfortable with the car and each other
as we head into Petit Le Mans at the end of the month."
Teammates Timo
Bernhard and Romain Dumas currently lead the GT2 drivers points
standings by a slim two point margin. The Mosport race will be
televised on the Speed Channel starting at 5:00 p.m. EST.
