Job Racing on Pole
at Mosport in GT2
Bowmanville,
Canada - Alex Job Racing driver Romain
Dumas drove his number 23/Hyatt/Bell Microproducts/Alex Job Racing/Porsche
911 GT3 RSR to pole position in GT2 for round eight of the American
Le Mans Series race to be run at Mosport tomorrow afternoon.
Dumas posted a time of 1:18.321 and an average speed of 112 mph,
which is a new qualifying record in the GT2 category at Mosport.
"I had a really good lap," said Dumas. "I was having trouble getting
through the last turn fast all week. In qualifying it was nearly
perfect through there, on the gas and the car just drifted to the
track out. I was surprised by the time a little, but the car was
really good. To gain 9-10ths in qualifying is a testimony to the
team giving us a great car." Dumas and co-driver Timo Bernhard
currently lead the ALMS GT2 points by a slim margin of just two
points.
In
the number 24/Bell Microproducts/Alex Job Racing/ProVest/Porsche
911 GT3 RSR, Darren Law put up a time of 1:19.571 good for a
third row starting position. "It was my best lap time of the day. There
is only a tenth or so separating the top cars. I had to adapt my
driving style to the way the AJR guys setup the Porsche. I think
I have it figured out now and am getting more comfortable with
every lap. The times are so tight at the top of the GT2 field that
we are looking forward to a great race." Law and teammate Ian Baas
tested here on Tuesday and will be looking for a strong finish
tomorrow.
"Great lap for Romain!" said Alex Job. "He
has been a little sick this week, so that is a great effort.
He and Timo are really getting the job done. Petersen has been
applying pressure all year and they are right on our tail in
qualifying. Darren put in a good lap, the GT2 field is so tight
that a tenth of a second will put you in seventh. The top eight
cars are very tight, so we are looking for a very competitive
race tomorrow."
The Mosport race will be televised on the Speed Channel starting
at 5:00 p.m. EST.
