Alex Job Racing Finishes Second in GT2 at Petit

Braselton, Georgia - Alex Job Racing drivers Ian Baas, Emmanuel Collard, Marcel Tiemann driving the number 24/Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/Pro Vest/Porsche 911 RSR finished second this evening in GT2 at the American Le Mans Series 10-hour Petit Le Mans race. Teammates Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas persevered to finish in fourth.

The day started with the number 23 car of Bernhard and Dumas leading the race from their pole position. An early yellow flag had the team pitting which took them out of the lead. Two incidents of contact, the first on lap 29 with a P2 car and the second on lap 150 would prove devastating for the duos championship hopes. On lap 179, Dumas pitted from the lead with right front vibration, which turned out to be a broken lower control arm. The repair took some 17 laps, relegating the pair down the GT2 order. They were eventually able to come back and finish fourth - which may prove pivotal in the run for the championship.

The number 24 car started by Emmanuel Collard had a trouble free day. First time series participant Marcel Tiemann and AJR regular Ian Baas ran trouble free to finish in second, matching the team's best season finish. The team was shuffled back early by being caught at the wrong time by a caution flag. After going down a lap the drivers were able to match the pace of the winning 31 car, but they were not able to get on the same lap to pursue the top spot.

Ian Baas, #24 Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/ProVest/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR: "In my first stint we were fighting a loose car. We tried to fix it with a rear bar change but it was the wrong way. My last stint the car was really strong. The Corvette expired in front me and the oil on the track sent me down the motorcycle chicane in turn three. It was a good day for our car, Marcel and Emmanuel are very strong and we were able bring it home in second."

Marcel Tiemann, #24 Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/ProVest/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR: "It was my first time in the series, first time with the team, first time at Road Atlanta and the first time in a Porsche GT2 it was a great weekend for me. The car during the race was very consistent and we were able to stay out of the accidents and the gravel. The AJR team really prepares a great car, every change we made the car responded. I really like the series and would like an opportunity to run some more races and get to learn more of the tracks here in the states."

Emmanuel Collard, #24 Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/ProVest/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR: "I made one small mistake all day coming down the hill in turn 10, but it did not cost us anything. We had a very good car, but we could not match the pace of the 31 team. When we fell down a lap we just could not make it up. Marcel and Ian did a good job, we were able to run steady lap times and keep out of trouble."

Timo Bernhard, #23 Alex Job Racing/Hyatt/Bell Microproducts/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, "We had two situations of contact, one with a P2 that drove into me and the second with the 79 Porsche, I had no where to go. I guess the two hits were just eventually too much for the lower control arm. All season we really did not have as much contact as we had today. This really affects our chances at the championship. It is not quite over and I am still motivated to win my third championship in a row."

Romain Dumas, #23 Alex Job Racing/Hyatt/Bell Microproducts/Porsche 911 GT3 RSR: "Again we were the fastest car and did not win. Timo had some bad luck with contact and the repair took us out of the chance to win. The car was good when we returned, but we were just too far down the order to race back. We still have a chance at Laguna."

Alex Job, team owner: "The 24 car ran a good smart race. The drivers did not put a wheel wrong and were able to avoid incidents. Marcel and Emmanuel got along really well with Ian and the team. Timo and Romain had a difficult day. Timo got hit by a P2 that came over on him and the second hit with the J3 car was one too many. The 31 car pushed the pace and ran trouble free all day. It's never over until it is over, so we will go to Laguna on a mission."

The final round of the American Le Mans Series will be run on Saturday, October 15th at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
