10-10-05 -- For Immediate Release

Alex Job Racing Needs A Miracle at Laguna

Tavares , Florida - Alex Job Racing drivers Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas have a slim chance of taking the GT2 title in the final round of the American Le Mans Series race to be run at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this Saturday.

The duo will need the leading Petersen drivers to DNF not more than 70% into the race for the AJR 23 team to have a shot at the GT2 title.

"We need to win and have some bad luck find the Petersen guys," said Timo Bernhard. "Laguna is one of my favorite circuits in the US, I like the hilly landscape and the undulating track layout. We have had disappointing season, Romain and I work perfectly together and we are always the quickest in GT2, but in the end we may not win the championship. That's a little hard to understand."

"There is a very slim chance for the championship still remaining, but that would require very bad luck for the Petersen team," said Romain Dumas. "Last year I was able to win at Laguna my first time there. I like the track, it is very challenging and has some great fast turns. We will go out and try to win and hope the championship come our way."

Teammates Ian Baas and Darren Law in the number 24/Alex Job Racing/Bell Microproducts/Pro Vest/Porsche 911 RSR will be looking to keep their string of podium finishes intact at the four-hour race that will finish in the dark at the Monterey Peninsula circuit. Baas has been able to quarter back the 24 team to consecutive second place finishes at Mosport and Petit Le Mans with three different co-drivers.

"I raced at Laguna last year in Formula Ford," said Ian Baas. "At the beginning of the year the podium was the goal, now it is time to win one. I like the track, it is different from the others that we run and has some great sections like the Cork Screw and down hill. I will need to get my comfort level up in the Porsche, but the other AJR drivers are always a big help. It will be interesting running there at night."

"The 24 car is on a hot streak with two podiums in a row," said Darren Law. "Last year at Laguna I finished on the podium, behind the two AJR cars. We will need to focus the setup of the car on being stable and fast through the high-speed turns. I hope we can close the season on the podium, maybe one more step better than second."

"We need nothing short of a miracle to retain the GT2 drivers title," said Alex Job, team owner. "The long races this year at Sebring and Petit were not particularly strong for our 23 car. The Petersen car has run strong all year and we need to try and push the pace at Laguna and hope they have some bad luck. Ian has done a great job in the 24 car the last couple of races, these are the kinds of performances that we had hoped for at the beginning of the year."

The final round of the American Le Mans Series will be run on Saturday, October 15th at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and will be televised live on the Speed Channel starting at 3:00 p.m. EST.
